The State of Scrum A 30-year startup

Dave West is the Product Owner and CEO at scrum.org. He is a frequent keynote speaker and is a widely published author of articles, along with his acclaimed book: Head First Object-Oriented Analysis and Design. He led the development of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and then worked with Ivar Jacobson running the North American business for IJI. Then managed the software delivery practice at Forrester research where he was VP and research director. Prior to joining Scrum.org he was Chief Product Officer at Tasktop where he was responsible for product management, engineering and architecture.

Scrum is officially 28 years old, but according to Ken Schwaber, co-creator of Scrum, it is even older than that used in teams before the officially documented description. But even after 30 years, Scrum continues to be new to many people. Why does Scrum continue to be both established and new simultaneously? And what can we learn from its use and adoption?

In this talk, Dave West, CEO of Scrum.org, discusses the current state of Scrum, describing how Scrum is being adopted and its continued growth. He will lay out adoption patterns as organizations wrestle with the industrial paradigm. Finally, he will hint at the future where Scrum and the ideas of empirical process, empowered teams, and continuous improvement are natural for every knowledge worker.
